My silly Mom thinks I need to ride in a ‘cart’…I told her I do NOT want her to call it a stroller…I am NOT a freakin’ baby, you know! So we call it the Doggyride cart. She seems to think I will enjoy this when we are out either on the bike orwalking – it will allow me to go farther with her on walks and then I can hitch a ride when I get tired(it can be a stroller or hooked to the bike). Well, I plan on NOT getting tired! But whatever. OK, I’ll ride in that thing if I HAVE to! But I’m crammed in it! Why in the world do they make these things so small but yet rate it for 120#??!!! I’m only half that weight! Go figure. My little sister fits in it well at 39#…she can have it as far as I’m concerned! I can go on my own three legs, thank you very much!
Here’s a few video’s and a photo of my first Doggieride ‘cart’ adventures:
This is me BIKJORING! Yeah! This is my style!
Do I look thrilled? NOT.
This is a little better….Sunroof open!
So, Mom does some more training with me in it as a “stroller” yesterday in the yard. Pushing me along and me with my head out the top and she was feeding me treats! Well, OK, that’s not too freakin’ bad! Mom the pezz dispenser feeding me as she pushes me along! Hmmm….maybe this will be better than attached to that bike?
So, listen up all you Tripawds! I’m forewarning you all! If your pawrents get one of these for you – RUN! Run as fast as you can in the other direction! Protest I say!!!! We are NOT babies and disabled! We can do just like all other quadpawds can! (shhhhh, don’t tell my Mom but yes, a rest in this stupid thing will be nice once in a while but I’m still protesting to her right now!) LOL!!!!
Maggie – the still AgileCowDog that CAN DO!
Hahaha your videos are too funny! I am pretty sure that my dog Chloe would panic and try to escape. Maggie was a good girl though!
Something I might consider getting in a few years if Chloe starts to get arthritis. Until then, she can roam at her will on the beach!
I am sure if you bribe Maggie with treats like you have been doing, she will maybe actually come to like the tripawd cart.

Good Girl, Indeed! 🙂
maggie…sun roof, wind in your hair…doesn’t look all that bad to me!! you are a regular ‘cleopatra’!!!
gayle
I’m laughing out loud Maggie! I tell you if your mom is riding a bike on a dirt road, rocky no less, with the riding cart hooked up to the back, videotaping you while you’re inside, I think I’d run for the hills too (LOL). You do look pretty regal in your coupe du stroller – I mean – riding cart. The best part is when you stuck your head out and your ears just shined right through! Thanks for sharing these enjoyable videos and the torture you must have gone through to prove to your mom that you’re not a baby. I’m sure you’ll get used to it in no time (we’ll be keeping our paws crossed for you) :).
Too funny! what the Mags has to endure…LOL
Haley looks too cute in there tho! 😉
It IS torture I tell you all!! TORTURE! What is up with my Mom these days!??!?! I’m NOT disabled I keep reminding her!!!! 😉
Maggie
I’m with you Maggie! We’re not disabled but a cozy cart ride with a sunroof and someone else doing all the pedaling is okay every once in awhile I guess. Our folks sure act strange at times. I suppose it’s because they love us so much. My dad puts this stupid harness thing on me everyday. He’s says I need help. I keep telling him…..I’m not handicapped you big goof. I look at it this way Maggie. He ain’t getting any younger and probably needs all the exercise he can get.
You keep showing the world how great life on 3 can be. Tell your mom thanks for the great videos. She’s awesome! 🙂
Fortis
Your Mom’s pretty talented Maggie, that’s coordination!
Alright, I’m with you on that; we are NOT handicapped, no way dude. But if that limo ride comes with my own cushy bed and a whole lotta treats, I could be persuaded to hang out there. After all, the farther we go, the more trouble we can create throughout the world! Bwwwwaaaahhhaaaaahaaaahaaaa!
Maggie, don’t think of it as a stroller. That thing is a chariot – just like the ancient Romans rode in. It looks like you even have some horse power courtesy of your Mom’s bike. I know you may prefer to run, being an agile cow dog and all, but every now and then you have to sit back and let others do the heavy pulling.
LOL!
Way to push through the sun roof, Maggie. Loved it.
🙂
Hi Maggie,
We just found you through Fortis, whom we adore. I am so excited to follow your blog and add you as a friend. I plan to get a bike cart for Indi this month. I bike commute and don’t have a car, so I am very limited in where I can take Indi. Unless we borrow a car or go out with a friend, she has a 6 block radius to navigate (luckily the park is one block away– a god-send since we now live in a loft).
I want to get her used to a cart so we can get out of the house together like we used to and go to coffee shops, run errands, go on bike rides and to other parks. She is gonna hate it, though. I just know it. I like your training ideas of walking with it first and giving lots of treats. Wish us luck!
Fortis fan here too! 🙂 The cart training is going better…in the yard anyways. I haven’t hooked it up the bike again…doing it the ‘stroller’ way for now. The bummer is it isn’t bigger for her 🙁 It’s a tight squeeze…but doable. She wants in it now for lots of showering treats as she sticks her head out the sunroof, which, btw, is very handy to give her treats to. You might consider that option when you look for one. How big is Indi? She looks big in your avatar photo? I’ll let you know how it goes today as I’m taking Maggie for a longer walk with her cart in tow for when she needs a break as I plan on going farther today…
Indi weighs 85 lbs these days. She used to be 100, but she has lost weight since her amputation and her leg weighed 5lbs (hence the name of our blog). I just started cart shopping. I’ve seen people put two kids in there, so there should be one she can fit in!
PS: Where did you buy Maggie’s dog trailer? Can you send me a link? I’m shopping around. Raina.
I went to your blog after I replied…and then I saw yes, Raina IS a big girl! 🙂
I bought mine from here:
http://www.justpetstrollers.com/ The Novel Doggyride brand. I got the one rated for 120# thinking I could put both my dogs in it together but NO WAY can that happen! Maggie takes up the ENTIRE space on her own.
If you search on Tripawds blogs for gear they also have links to one’s – there was one other I was looking at by Solvit…it’s not much bigger than this one however inside the cabin. I was looking for bike and stroller attachments. This place where I got mine does have one stroller that is a little bigger/wider but doesn’t attach to a bike… Good luck in your search!
Thanks for the bike trailer links. I will surely check them out. And, while I am a big girl, too at 5’10”, Indi is the dog. Raina is the dog mama 😉
@raina Be sure to check out our review of bike strollers and trailers for big dogs in the Tripawds Gear Blog!
Got it at http://www.justpetstrollers.com via your blog on them 🙂
