I Fell Today :-(

What a way to ring in the New Year – I fell today 🙁

Me & Mama were walking in the logyard again.. I went running to get a stick and I lost my footing on a patch of slick snow and down I went on my amputated side. My Mama got that on tape(but didn’t get me yesterday doing greyhound laps and I NEVER fell then!)…it hurt when I did it but I shrugged it off and we continued on our walk but my Mama tied me on my Flexi after that cause she was scared I was gonna hit a slick spot again…the ground was freshly covered with new snow, so we couldn’t see the slick spots 🙁

I acted fine but after a rest, I was having a hard time getting back up, my back was roached and took me a bit to get going. My Mama gave me 1/2 of a 75 mg. Deramaxx tonight and may give me more tomorrow based on how I am.

Way back when the vet’s were trying to figure out what was wrong with me, they found that I have a calcified disc(L3) in my lower back. My Mama thinks it’s my back that is bothering me tonite but of course, I can’t talk, so can’t tell her…but me roaching my back gives her a hint..

What a way to ring in the New Year…I get a massage tonight to help me..along with the Deramaxx..

I hate falling down. It sucks.

Maggie was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma on her left knee. She had amputation done on October 20, 2009. Four days after surgery she had a low grade fever and was off her food for two weeks! Trying times.. I am grateful and so pleased with how she is progressing now.

  1. Oh my poor sweet Maggie… I’m sorry that you fell and that you’re feeling icky… I really hope that the Deramax helps you and that you’re feeling better soon!!!

Be careful when you’re on the slippery snow… when my Jake first fell on his amp side, when climbing out of the pool, I almost had a heart attack… but Jake seemed to be fine afterwards… But our doggies are so tough… much tougher than we are…

    Hope you enjoyed your massage…

  2. Jake’s mom is right-they are soooo much tougher than us! My stomach flipped and I almost lost my lunch when Caira fell on her amp side and skidded across the beach! I thought I was going to die. Caira just got up shook down and came running back to us. I made her take a break and she spent the whole time looking up at me like “breaks are STOOOPID!”
Of course, Caira does not have the back issues you talk about. I’ll bet someone really appreciated the massage, though!

  3. Hey Maggie’s mom-
Luckily we don’t have ice or snow here to worry about, but my Maggie finds all kinds of things to slip on around here. Right after her surgery her amp side would get sore I think, but now she falls on it all the time, and no problem. Actually falling isn’t right, she kind of sits down when she loses her balance, and pivots on the amp side. I’m trying to get some video of it. Mag doesn’t have the back problem, but I do spend some time massaging her back, hips and remaining leg, which she enjoys.

I hope your Maggie feels better soon.

  4. Thanks guys for your comments… Maggie was better last nite after I gave her the Deramaxx 🙂 We stayed away from that walking place today…I didn’t want her to slip! Man…it’ll be nice when there’s green grass and good footing all the time…she will surely appreciate it!!

  5. You are right, Maggie, falling sucks. I scared my pawrents really bad about two weeks after my surgery, when I didn’t take my time getting out of my car. I did a complete somersault! I got up like nothing happened, but my mom almost cried.

Try to stay vertical, Maggie and watch out for that slippery stuff.

  6. Yes Yes being a blond does not help me at all I trip daily when playing with my big fish toy 🙂 Mom gets worried and dad gets tense but I show them that I am strong! Maggie hang in there and try not to fall too much, but that will happen so be prepared and aim for the otherside

    lots of luv
